This week in class we read two short stories, I personally liked the Paper Menagerie most because it was much easier to read and follow along. It was easier to connect to the parent aspect as a child. As children we often lust after things we do not have and that is what the child did in this story. He took his life and mother for granted just because they weren’t as normal as others. The Embassy Of Cambodia was a great read, but just was not for me. It was very hard to follow along and hard for me to understand. If we would have talked about this as a class while reading it may have been easier to break the paragraphs down and understand. The moods of both stories at times were sort of sad. They both talked about less fortunate or at least hinted at it. The moods of these stories are easy to connect because they’re going to be rough patches for many people and as I said before, children often take a lot of things for granted. In the Embassy Of Cambodia it spoke about being to see over a wall to more fortunate people. This was sad to me because these children are lusting after things they do not have.
